We will depart from Luang Namtha by tuk tuk to head north into the Nam Ha protected Area. We will meet our village guides/forest interpreters at Nammat Kao village before taking a hike into the mountains of Nam Ha. We will learn about the flora and fauna, and gather wild herbs and vegetables as ingredients for our dinner. We will have an open fire cook out with our Khmu hosts.
We will have an early start to catch sunrise from atop the mountain above the camp. We will have a chance to explore the forest and help village cooks prepare breakfast. Today, we will learn how to make bird calls. We will take a trek through the Nam Ha jungle, arriving at the Nammat Mai village (Akha ethnic group). We will share a meal of fresh organic foods with our Akha village hosts, then get a traditional Akha massage.
We will descend from the Nam Ha mountains back to Luang Namtha, following the same path used daily by villagers taking their forest products and crafts to market.
